Shamash descends from a long line of Dragonborn Paladins. His clan’s worship dictates that when a Dragonborn comes of age, he or she begins a holy journey. The goals of this journey are to fight evil, protect the weak and innocent, and to seek draconic lore. Shamash is the second son in his family. His elder brother, Tarnash, returned to his clan a renowned hero.
Shamash is struggling with his destiny. He wants to please his parents and relatives, but part of him yearns to make this journey into an exodus. He has often harbored plans of leaving his clan forever. He does not hate his clan, far from it. His affection for his parents and admiration for his brother swell his mighty heart. But Shamash yearns to find his own path, and does not necessarily believe that returning to his ancestral homes lies in his future.
However, Shamash is ardent in his worship of Bahamut. He feels a close connection with his god and communes with him often. His deep faith has imparted to him the confidence that allows him to yearn to stretch beyond the traditional role that has been laid out for him. He secretly hopes to found a new community of Bahamut worshippers. This community will be open to anyone, regardless of race.
Shamash knows that he is young, and somewhat idealistic, but he has already had a handful of victories in his fight against evil. In a short time he has shown himself to be a very competent melee combatant. He particularly enjoys using his breathe weapon, as he feels his connection to his god during those moments.
Just a few days ago Shamash left his family and ancestral home. He is alone for the first time in his life. He is exhorting in many new experiences, but he is also mindful of the challenges ahead.
